Lately, one of my most important academic references is Max Weber, this man was a German lawyer, economist, political scientist and sociologist considered one of the fathers of sociological thought along with Karl Marx and Émile Durkheim, among others

His thoughts and postulates were fundamental to the development of a modern and comprehensive sociology. For Max Weber, sociology should study the meaning and motives of the actions of individuals within society, the main focus being the understanding of social phenomena.

Max Weber has a multicausal conception of social phenomena, unlike Marx, who gave economic factors a causal supremacy. The reality is complex, and it is necessary to approach it from the greatest number of perspectives.

My favorite work by Weber is "The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism" where he demonstrates how religious morality drives modern capitalism, showing that ideas are not only a reflection of economic conditions, but that they can be historically effective as a motor of change.
